Our focus in The Restaurant, first and foremost, is on celebrating our local producers. That being said, we realize in order to appropriately highlight these wines, we need to provide the correct context. That context arrives on our list in the great wines of the world. We're excited to have more than 1,200 selections in the cellar, any of which I'd be happy to open and drink with my best friend, my wife on our anniversary or a discerning colleague. They're all that good.
Vintners & Growers
In the same way a chef is inspired by natural surroundings, resources and people, so is a sommelier. There's a pulse to living alongside America's most celebrated vintners and growers that's exhilarating. Being part of this community stimulates a desire to live by the same values, including commitment to experimentation, excellence, entrepreneurialism and, somewhat surprisingly, collaboration. It's rare to see a set of tough competitors so willing to share in the interest of collective evolution.
Meadowood Founding Partner and owner of Harlan Estate, H. William Harlan, recently presented an exclusive offering to The Restaurant of his 2007 and 2008 vintages of Harlan Estate in half bottles, this in addition to his continued support with a deep vertical selection of wines from Harlan Estate. His partner in Meadowood, Stan Kroenke, owner of Screaming Eagle, is now offering his Sauvignon Blanc exclusively to The Restaurant. Ownership by legendary vintners is at the heart of Meadowood's longstanding tradition as a common ground for the local winemaking community. We're proud and grateful to have a great many of Napa Valley's celebrated producers as our regular dinner guests and friends.
In 2011 we expanded our gardening program through St. Helena Montessori, a local school focused on experiential learning where students connect with the community's agricultural roots.
Our new gift certificates are a beautiful thing to give and receive. Gift certificates may be purchased in any denomination or for a particular Restaurant experience.
Among the talented people we continue to meet in the Napa Valley are a group of amazing artisans working in ceramics. There are several whose work we love. Lynn Mahon is one of our favorites.
